ODC Cutting Edges Design: Josefin Tolstoy

Cutting Edges is created in collaboration with Josefin Tolstoy – a collection of rugs for both floor and wall, originating from Josefin’s painted works. In the hand-tufted rugs and wall hangings, the patterns become even more abstract while the motifs are given a new, tactile and three-dimensional expression.

With Cutting Edges, Josefin Tolstoy explores what happens when the colors and forms from her paintings are translated into a new artistic medium. The collection consists of three different designs: Sisters at the Same Table and The Cluster are produced as wall hangings, while The Tangles is available in three sizes, both as a rug and as a wall piece. All designs are painted by Josefin Tolstoy, drawing from our broad wool color palette, complemented with linen accents.

The rugs are created through a combination of different hand-tufting techniques, resulting in variations in level and texture that reflect the artist’s brushstrokes and compositions.
